Penn Stater Conference Center & Hotel Addition Architecture, Interior Design
University Park, PA -100,000 SF
The Penn Stater, designed by the firm, is considered one of the nations leading academic conference centers. The first major expansion of the facility under management of the Penn State Hospitality Services, this project doubles the hotel capacity to 300 guestrooms and provides the template for continuing renewal of the original facility. Architecturally seamless, the expansion significantly alters the experience of both hotel and conference guests by separating the hotel and conference lobbies. At the base of a six-story pavilion, the new hotel lobby takes its themes from the surrounding woodlands and features natural materials, large expanses of glass and a central fi replace. A new executive conference area includes flexible meeting rooms, a board room with video conferencing capabilities and a generous break area serviced by a remote foodservice pantry.
